Summary:

The text in section 1.5 ROAD MAP FOR DEVELOPMENT OF RELATED STANDARDS is elaborated in order to make it more clear how additional standards can be used in connection with OAIS.

Description of requested change:

(Use From: "..." To "..." format)
Add as last sentence to first paragraph on page 1-1: This document is the anchor for a family of related standards and community documents that are referenced in Section 1-5.

Change last bullet on the page 1-1:
From: guides the identification and production of OAIS-related standards. To: guides the identification and production of OAIS-related standards (see Section 1-5).

Change on the page 1-2:
From: Standards developers are expected to use this model as a basis for further standardization in this area. A large number of related standards are possible. A road map for such development is briefly addressed in 1.5. To: Standards developers are expected to use this model in conjunction with related OAIS-related standards and community documents as a basis for further standardization in this area. A large number of related standards are possible and some have already been developed. A road map for such development and a current status of relevant standards is briefly addressed in 1.5. Annex B identifies examples of related standards.

Change first sentence in section 1-5:
From: This Reference Model serves to identify areas suitable for the development of OAIS-related standards. To: This Reference Model is the core of the OAIS family of standards and explicitly identifies areas suitable for the development of OAIS-related standards as well as progress towards developing related standards.

Change bullet list in section 1-5

  • standard(s) for the interfaces between OAIS type Archives
    • OO-IO model which is a model for OAIS’s based on distributed digital preservation, where the model can assist in provision of terminology and analysis of requirements, interfaces and audit points:

Explanation of the reason for the suggested change:

To clarify where additional standards can be used in relation to OAIS, and make it more easy to find relevant standards, and include the OO-IO model.
Concerning the changes in the list of standards, the important thing is to give a short description of have it relates to OAIS, and that it is easy to get an overview of the standards. That means the layout of the list is NOT the imporatnt thing here, and it would be good to add descriptions for the satndards that do not have one yet.the important thing.
